Pre-Procedure
A few days before the scheduled procedure, a phone consultation is conducted to review the patient’s medical history and current medications. Pre-anesthesia instructions and NPO (nothing by mouth) guidelines are also provided to ensure the patient is fully prepared for a safe and seamless experience.
Day of Procedure
The anesthesiologist arrives approximately 45 minutes before the scheduled start time to set up, evaluate the patient, and address any remaining questions. After IV access is established, general anesthesia is induced. Within about 10 minutes, the patient is comfortably asleep and nasally intubated, creating a quiet and motionless environment for the procedure.
Post-Procedure
With approximately 30 minutes’ notice, the emergence process begins. The patient is typically extubated and awake within 10–15 minutes of procedure completion. The anesthesiologist remains on-site until discharge criteria are met and the patient is released to a responsible adult. A follow-up phone call is made the next day to confirm recovery and ensure continuity of care.
